Removing fibreglass splinters

A tip from a scout master who's doing a beginners course with us.

In the olden days, he often used fibreglass kayaks. After every session, he'd end up with little splinters of fibreglass in his skin.

His tip for removing them safely and easily is to put some Fairy washing-up liquid on the area. (It has to be Fairy, since this is the only brand with the necessary density.) This draws the fibreglass splinters out of the skin.

anyone got any sugestions for getting carbon fibre out, I had the unfortunate experience of getting many carbon arrow fibres in my middle finger knuckel about 5 years ago. I pulled as many out at the time as i could, but 5 years later, every now and again the knuckle swells and low and behold more fibres come to the surface.
