Advantages/disadvantages of pulling sight in

Apart from getting more length if I pull the sight further in, are there other advantages or possibly disadvantages? I imagine that if you bring the sight right in and have the sight far down you'll obscure the pin a bit?

The further out you can keep your sight, the better, but it's always good to have some kind of adjustment for weather conditions.

If the sight is too far down and too far in, you may find the longrod obscuring the sight at longer distances.

I find that pulling the sight in makes it harder to find a consistent aim point, because the ring seems so much bigger (in my case, i used to have it as far back as possible for 90M (because of low poundage), and the whole target didn't event fill up the sight ring!!)
that being said, that is only the extreme of pulling the sight in.
