| the finishing touch for feather fletches I'm in the middle of fletching some feathers and realised after the first two that the white base and side was glaringly obvious. So, like any good crafter, I got out my set of permanent markers and coloured in the white sides and bases with a matching colour. The result looks very neat indeed and has no negative effects on the glue. ![]() ![]() ![]()

| do you use anything on the front of the feather to keep it from lifting |
| |||||
| Looking really good Leigh! Alternative is to hold the feather in a jig clamp and give the base a little rub down with some sandpaper Also blob of glue on the leading front tips of the feather will stop any lift and avoid the possibility of it catching your hand on release ![]() J

| It's the first time I've tried feathers on allys, so I'm looking for any advice I can get. So, I shall put a blob of glue on the leading edge this evening ![]()

| Looking good Leigh, I may have a go myself - black and red on black x7's ... Menacingly good! |
| |||||
| Leigh, why don't you splice the feathers and put a piece of another colour in No 1 fletch, 2 pieces in No 2 and 3 pieces in No 3, like our field archers do???? They then know if they got a kill or a wound with their first arrow if they have to shoot a second, as they shoot 1,2 and 3 in sequence. |
