| If they're heavy enough I can't see a reason why not. I have taught beginners using the carbon impact arrows with wooden takedown recurves, no problems there.

| Depends on: a) the bow; and b) the arrows. a) Some wooden bows, such as the Border Black Douglas, are specially reinforced and are more than capable of dealing with the additional stress of shooting a light arrow with modern string materials. Others, such as traditional longbows, aren't designed with this in mind. Shooting a light carbon from a traditional longbow would be almost like dry-firing the poor thing. b) Some carbons can be pretty heavy. ![]() |

| If the carbon arrow is too light the bow will act like its being shot without an arrow. This is bad. As long as the arrow is heavy enough it should be fine. hoot one arrow and see how it sounds and feels. If it doesnt feel bad or sound like its trying to fall apart then it should be fine.

I tried a few weeks back shooting carbons from my AFB's, the performance (219fps) was stunning but they were well under the 8 gpp needed, so nothing more than a very quick experiment. People in the US tend to use broad heads so that tends to push them above the weight limit. |
