improvised compound scope dots

I arrived t my club last night to find the tiny black stick on dot had dissapeared off my scope. I desperately searched to find anything to make a dot from, all I could find in my bag was some square shaped yellow, arrow numbers approx 5mm square with a little number.

These I thought were far from ideal a "square dot" coloured yellow to sight on a circular dot coloured yellow. But faced with the choice of trying it or going home I decided to give it a try.

To my astonishment I shot only one less than my PB and considering my first dozen arrows contained 4 eights which didn't occur for the next 4 dozen, it could easily have been a PB shoot!

Now the dilema is do I keep the absurd dot!!!

I've got one of those recurvy things, but I find the ten ring indoors is a bit big it takes all the fun out of it

Ok, time for some actual advice methinks...

If memory serves then those little stickers are about 3mm across. That's about the same as the dot I use (the largest of the Beiter pin inserts) so the size isn't silly. Also, it could be that the colour worked particularly well for you - which way round was it, number towards you or away from you? Either way you may simply have been aiming more carefully

However I would have to say that your own reaction says it all - you did not expect to succeed so you felt under no pressure and were able to perform at your best. That would be the real lesson. (and duplicating it would be the real trick, too...)
