Yes, dont be a skinflint and purchase a good target. You spent a lot on your bow, you spent a lot on your arrows, so why risk damaging them with a cheapo homemade target.
A 90cm layered foam boss costs about £60

i have cheap armex arrows to practice with, so im not too worried should they come to an unfortunate end. i got a 60x60 foam target from archery-centre.co.uk for £19.90 which was a bargain, just wanting to see if there was a larger alternative for around £35-40 maybe?

Merlin do a great cube target, we use one and it has taken 1000's of arrows and maybe a bit wonky but it still stops my compound arrows at 8ft and they pull out easily. We use it when we are testing arrows through the chrono as it has excellent stopping power at short distance.

Nice I hadn't seen the big one before, followed the link and have just ordered one. Not planning to use it as a target but to put in front of the stand on Wendy's Danage to catch low flying arrows when setting up at 70m/80yds. We currently use a foam boss for this but its a bit of a pain. The first time she shoots at 70 with new arrows she always aires on the side of caution and sets her sight so they will go low rather than high. If they go too low then the boss catches them

Anyone (looking at Ben) have an idea of the maximum recomended poundage to shoot on the large boss. I see it doesn't like compound/Xbow.
