In my case its only too obvious! Now I'm aware of it I can't help but notice. When I first thought of the possibility I placed a steel engineering rule against each side and held it up to the window - sure enough along the bow-side length of the extension the rule is in contact about half way, then gently curves away. Trouble is this discovery came a little late to get anything done about it other than make enquiries about the possibility of a new extension rail, which fell on deaf ears.

Hello Archer Thom
Sounds like Plunger position and plunger tension need adjustment, See section B the "Vic Berger method", I had a straight line offset with distance.

Indeed. Having read those articles that's exactly what I've done. The concern is that my arrow point is WAY out of line (after tuning), surely that's not good?

I my recurve days I used to look down on the sight etc. and see that the side arm was parallel to my long rod. It's not perfect, as you move the sight away from the archer it is going to appear to move slightly to the right (right handed archer).

I found there were always slight variations in the position of the sight ring at different distances, so I simply used to keep a note of how far out to place it alongside the notes on how far up/down and in/out it went.

"wrong spine of arrows" does NOT cause a constant drift of groups over distances (urban archery legend)
for those that do suffer from this it is the sight track alignment and if it is not then check it again.
Next on the list is bow lean over the disatnces.

The major contributor to poor walk back is alignment, so you can mess with the button and take the bow out of normal parameters of set up OR cure the form problem, start with hand position and then look at shoulder alignment.

If a recurve bow does not give the tune you want with a 8mm nocking point and centre shot just outside of centre for all arrows except sometimes X10's then alter the poundage not the button to get it right. If still wrong on bare shaft tune or walk back and the arrows are within spine chart specification get a decent coach to look at how much you torque the bow and other style points (side anchor & alignement). If you have the wrong arrows do one of two things, 1)quit tuning 2)get the right set!

Very interesting ASW, I had just about come to the conclusion that it is bow lean as I have always done this. I'm slightly surprised at your comment that alignment can cause arrows to drift at different distances, not that I don't believe it but I've never heard about that before. Which way out of alignment does it go? (as in, draw too far makes arrows go right, etc?)

Also, I notice that you have often suggested that a *good* coach can solve a lot of problems. I don't disagree, but having suffered at the hands of very bad top level coaches, how can you tell which ones are good before working with them?
