Question How long does a FITA take?

Hi,

Apologies for rubbish question but can't find the answer anywhere. People at our club don't tend to shoot competitions so I can't find out there. I am hoping to shoot my first ever competition at the Cheshire County Bowmen FITA in July but have no idea how long it's likely to take.

Thanks in advance for replies.

Whatever shoot you go to, allow a day. If it doesn't actually take that long then you have time on your hands to chill with the rest of the crew!

shooting comps

If you let the others on your target know that its your first FITA on your own they will look after you. Its wise to note on your entry form then the TO will make sure there are people to look out for you. But above all enjoy it.Allow for about a six pm finish unless shooting a single detail round.

I would agree with Phil but as its a county champs it may be a little longer and the prizegiving can take some time.

Best wishes, Mark

The 2 biggest contributary factors to the length of a FITA:
1. Time spent looking for arrows
2. Time to get the results out

FITAs tend to be more predictable than imperial (lets not have a fita vs imperial war here please) as they are timed

My tip for your first tournament: arrive plenty early. I suggest an hour before "assembly" time. That way you'll have plenty of time to set your kit up, find out where to go, go to the loo 6 times and chat to all the new friends you'll make
Shoot well!

It also gives you time to get the inevitable bacon butty before the befinning of the shoot.

9.30-5 is normally about what they take. Apart from the Uni Champs that take a little longer (note about finding lost arrows)
