Nice weather making bow grip tricky

Hello All
With this nice hot weather here in the UK, my hands have been sweating a lot and I find my hands slipping on the riser grip handle, which a Hoyt eclipse, and the handle is plastic, has anyone any tips to overcome this problem, i.e wrapping something around the grip, or could this cause more problems.
Thanks

Yam350

There have been a few threads on this, but they may be tricky to find on a search.

I have used the Gompy self-adhesive chamois leather and liked that. The biggest failing is that it tends to fall off rather easily if you get a very wet day.

One of the juniors in your club (I am sure you can guess which one) uses Horse leg bandage. It is very cheap, is nice and thin, and easy to renew. Possibly the texture is a bit coarse, but I am sure you could ask to get a length from him to try.

I have also played with self adhesive tennis racket grip, but these were all rather thick.

If you want any more ideas talk to me on Tuesday at the club.

in the mean time any ideas from others welcome. there must be some others out there.

Something you should consider is that your hand slipping could indicate a poor hand position to begin with. Perhaps getting that checked by a trusted coach or fellow archer would be a good idea.

Thanks for the Tips, I was shooting the L-Spa novice tournament (which I thoroughly enjoyed), and it was a hot day, and my hands were very sweaty. I think as I do more tournaments, comes the experience of variable conditions that archers have to cope with.

I have tried a variety of chalks and Gorilla snot (for drummers). I now wear a golf glove.

Some in our club are using rugby gloves the ones with the finger tips cut out.

Seem to work for them but I found they gripped too much.

Many bow grips are rounded in such a way as to encourage the hand to slip round when wet. I like to flatten the rounded surfaces so the hand isn't encouraged to slip. Works without rubber grips or tension in the hand or wrist.

I use a rugby stik-mitt (fingerless and sticky) and can heartly recommend it. Of course, I shoot barebow with no stabilisers etc, so grip a bit more firmly than most recurvers.

shooting in the tropics its always hot and sweaty, so i use a wilson tennis grip, yet another club member likes the slip and uses talc on his hands.
