oh i did somthing like this last year....

my dad took some wooden biscuts (oval bits of wood about 2 inches (5cms) in length cost no more than 20p each) and drilled a hole in it, then i painted it (pink...lol) and put my initals on it with a silver pen...then u just put a target pin through the hole...and there u have it....foot markers...

very similar to Ffish's milk bottle top idea...

Why not just initial a target pin and stick it in the ground???

Saves drilling holes in things!!!

Because the left handed archers always stand on mine and push them into the ground so I can't see them.

it's okay I do the same to theirs!

I use the complete bottle top with a target pin in in wet weather which gives me a more stable mark....just a quick pull out and use the pin to clear out the mud.

I don't use foot markers, but my feet go into the same places each shot (or close enough) Like this I don't have problems, and it means I don't have anything to lose that is stuck into the ground!

Cool

You know I never realy gave it a thought. Foot makers couldn't do anything else than help my shooting! Whats the best way to find your ideal stance? Any help would be greatfully received

Likewise. I gave them up after my beginner's course. Well, about 6 months later. I use muscle memory, When the body feels right, I'm in-line. My stance varies with the weather, depending on wind direction I can be Open or Closed... even all points between.

Stand on the shooting line with your shoulders in line with the target boss, feet about shoulder width apart. That is a good place to start. Then take it from there, experiment.

Or indeed for marking out a field and indicating where the target boss legs should go!

We cannot mark lines on the field so I have put blocks down the outside at the required distances and then marking the location of the stands with milk bottle tops - green for the left leg and something else for the right.

Cheap (we seem to be collecting lots of them!) and if they chopped by the mower then we shall put some more in.

Beats having to get the tape out each time we shoot!
