Archery doesnt require supplements at all, and supplements are exactly that - if you can get what they contain from food thats always better. Creatine is seomthing i avoid altogether but i do use whey protein shakes. My weight training isnt archery specific though, its more for fat loss as I've always been a bit tubby. Its working great too. The protein shakes are just a convenient way of keeping my diet plan on track. You could use lean meat or fish or egg whites for exactly the same effect, but theres only so many chicken breasts I can stomach to eat (and cook) each day.

Oh and the better the quality of protein, the more is absorbed by your body instead of being lost down the toilet. Eggs contain the best (most readily absorbed) protein i think and certain types of whey blends are better than others. The amount you need daily depends on your body weight too and some of the packaged stuff gives serving sizes more suitable for big heavy muscular body builders than your average person.

Foods containing protein easily absorbed by the body in order:

1)eggs(not just the white) 2)milk(goats is better than cows) 3)fish 4)turkey 5)white meat 6)red meat(forget steak,its 80% water)

Whole egg is better because the yolk contains all the enzymes & vitamins required to aid protein absorbtion.Cholesterol is nothing to worry about if your excercising regular.B vitamins also aid in the absorbtion and elimination of any excess cholesterol.Your body needs cholesterol to survive and if you don't eat it your body will make it(its essentially just vitamin D)

If your training for muscle mass and fatty weight loss then eat pineapple(bromelain) papaya(papain) or a couple of spoonfuls of apple cider vinegar with each meal. These all aid in the absorbtion of protein and have other beneficial effects as well.

Whey protein,i suppose is adaquate as a protein supplement but if you eat a diet containing the above for your protein then LEVULOSE is a better supplement. Its basically fruit sugar. Its practically pre digested so passes into the blood stream immediately carrying protein with it.This method compels the body to utilise protein more efficently and thus less wastage.Dark, unprocessed honey contains a fair amount of levulose,so adding it to your diet would also be beneficial
