travel insurance

I'm off to Northern Ireland to shoot in a couple of weeks, and went looking for travel insurance, only to be told that I could have no cover either for my equipment in transit and once there or me personally at the shoot.
I'm hoping my kit will be all risks away from home on my home policy, but I can't even get cover for things such as a car accident on the way to the shoot, or the hotel falling on my head.
Has any one else encountered this and how did you get round it?

You shouldn't need any specific insurance for going to NI, as it is part of the UK your still under NHS for health related issues, GNAS insurance at the shoot, and your home contents insurance / car insurance if it covers you, your car or your gear out of the home at all.

Anyway congratulations on making the Scottish team (I asume its the Euronations you are going too, if so I'll see you there).

I heard good reports

Ive had cover but thankfully never needed to use them, but ive got friends that have...
"Snowcard" sports insurance covers most sports, with various levels of cover.

They also do, custom cover for the items not mentioned on the web site...
