Loose X10 Nocks

I'm building up a set of X10, and being a recent convert to Beiter nock points I went for the X10 In-Out nocks. The problem I’ve come across is that the nocks are a too loose a fit. In the past I’ve used the plastic bag trick with my ACE’s but with the small diameter of the X10 I don’t think this will work.

So several questions.

Has anyone else come across the loose Beiter nock? I would have expected due the claimed tolerance of both nock and shaft that this problem shouldn’t have arisen. Do questions need to be asked?

Should I stick with the In-Outs? At 80p a go it isn’t cheap to go down the Beiter road but would it be better to ditch them and use something better.

Is there a trick to make the nocks fit? Easton don’t recommend permanently gluing the ‘G’ nock in ACE’s, but suggest that a Faber-Castell glue could be used, is this the same as a ‘Pritt Stick’ type of thing and does it work?

I've had the same problem with ACEs and Beiter Insert nocks. Either wrapping the nock shaft with PTFE tape or a small piece of dental floss tightened the fit OK.

The alternatives are the pin-outs from Beiter. I'm using them on my X10s and they are the opposite, a very tight fit although that is likely due to the fact that I have cut from the back. If you wrap teflon tape around the insert then it should tighten up the fit.

Just one question, how loose is loose? You should really be able to rotate them with your fingers but they shouldn't fall out too easily.

The solution is shown (as you would expect really) on the Beiter Website, bottom of page 1 here: http://www.wernerbeiter.com/en/infor...s/Nocke_GB.pdf

You can also use Copydex (rubber solution) glue which doesn't contain harmful solvents. Rub it on in a thin layer and let it dry before fitting the nock to the shaft.

I don't think they would 'fall' out but the fit is so slack it wouldn't be far away. I'm sure they would come out when they're shot.

I had thought about the PTFE tape but as I said in the original post, because of the small diameter I have my doubts.

If you think that PTFE tape might be too thick, then you could try Cling film food wrap, ultra thin and clear and available everywhere.

Cheers, Jim.

Another suggestion for the Beiter in-outs (I am sure I originally saw it here) is to take a craft knife and make a series of scores around the shaft of the nock, this raises enough material to make a tighter fit. I had a similar problem with the Beiter nocks for my navs and this worked for me.

i had loose beiter nocks last year and the best tip was shown to me by buzz...just dangle the end of some dental tape in the shaft, insert the nock and trim the excess off with a craft knife. sorted!!

This worked for me too with ACE and In/Out nocks
