A trick I learned from a GP is to keep your wrists cool either using wet wristbands or holding a cold bottle against them. Something to do with your pulse points giving out a lot of heat. I've tried this on hot commuter trains in London and it does work.

Used this trick in the forces, it does work, the reason is that you cool down the blood, also works with the pulse on the ankle and the neck.(wet neckerchief)
