Staying cool in warm weather

Staying cool - freeze 2L bottles of water and store in a coolbox. Will last for up to 2 days even over a hot weekend, and make your opponents EXTREMELY jealous

from pwiles1968:
Camel Back or Similar style water bladders will freeze, if you get one with a Thermal bag or jacket it will hang on the back of your chair and stay cold all day, you don't even have to open your cool box if you want

Just don't forget that water expands when frozen. Either fill to just over 3/4 & put the lid on, or go a little further & freeze with the lid off.

I haven't found the need so far. I just stick 'em in the freezer. Most modern bottles have enough space in them anyways, and will expand a little too. never had one bust yet (famous last words!!)

Another couple of tips:

Wet a cloth with cool water and wear it round your neck / on your head (or wet a hat)

Get a small spray bottle (superdrugs do them I think), and fill with water, then just regularly spray your face/neck with water.

you can get hats & neckties with a substance in that absorbs water when soaked, then allows it to evaporate slowly whilst you wear it - with quite a good cooling effect. Try outdoor/expedition type shops, like Rohan also for hot weather gear.

I tried the 'frozen bottles' trick for a competition one time, and ran out of drinkable water - it wasn't defrosting quickly enough (damn British summers ).

Try not to use a red cloth while wearing a white shirt, eh Miles?
