Shooting in the rain

Invest in a nice big umbrella ... it keeps the scorecards from getting to wet.

Some dufus left a *huge* golf brolly outside of my flat door. I left it there for nearly a fortnight and as no one claimed it, I did! I suppose it's actually a cricket umbrella as it says NatWest Cricket on it. Who cares, really. It's huge, study and I like it.

I quite like Murray's idea of spiking it into the ground, so it's handy if and when you need it.

We dont need umbrellals to keep our score cards dry anymore. One of our members is in the paper industry and has invented waterproof score cards! We tried them out at our shoot last week when it was pouring rain(as usual in Ireland) and they worked a treat. It was great.

Nope, no chisel needed, just any regular pen. When he first showed them to us we did not believe him, so we got a bootle of water, wrote down some scores and tried it out. We poured loads of water on and rubed the sheets togther but sitll the cards and scores were intact

I think that's the stuff they make paper money from in Australia (among other countries). It's a bit like Tyvek, which they also make target faces from too - as a "paper" its amazing stuff, and almost indestructible too. Good idea!

I carry a large see-through plastic bag. When it rains, I slip the scorepad inside and can score without removing it from the bag. Works a treat.

Another tip is to buy fisher space pen refills - they come with an adapter which allows them to fit any pen which takes a parker style refill. These write on wet target faces, upside down, you name it.
