Another useful aid to allignment issues in general is mini plumb-bobs.

Hang a couple of darning needles on thread from your bow string, with the bow resting face down across a couple of stools. You can set the thread length so thay hang down to whatever point you want to check. Sliding them to different points along the string can give you a picture of the allignment overall. Or you can target specific areas (like the sight).
