| A slightly cheaper way of doing this is to use methelayted spirit, I found that the fletchings did not come off. I had some problems getting hold of IPA at boots, seems it is a restricted chemical. These chaps http://www.cfsnet.co.uk/acatalog/CFS...cohol_104.html sell IPA in anything from 1 litre up to 25 gallon drums ! ![]() Dave ![]() Not to be confued with IPA, the rather tasty brew from Greene King brewery, which is not as good at cleaning your shafts... ![]() |

| I find that a butter knife, one of those old fashioned, bone handled jobs that you use when having a formal sit down tea, works well. The edge is thin enough to remove the glue, but not sharp enough to penetrate carbon. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

| I know two people who've used different things. My girlfriend used the cheapest vodka she could find which seemed to work well, and our captain from last year used absynthe which worked even better! ![]() Incidently, in the case of the vodka the arrows were left to soak in it overnight, can't remember what happened with the Absynthe.

| Wipe over with spirit. Set fire to spirit and the glue will burn of leaving carbon.Only to be used on carbon arrows.Only do outdoors supervised by an adult. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

Also, anyone using Acetone or ISO... put the rag/papertowel etc. outside on the door step until dry BEFORE putting in the bin to avoid spontaneuos combustion setting light to your old teabags!

| Easton recomend the use of either MEK (methyl ethyl ketone) or IPA (but as sais elsewhere meths is probably as good) depending on the type of shaft. They give full details of how to clen and fletch all types of shaft in their tuning booklet which is well worth the free download - An excellent book. http://www.eastonarchery.com/downloads.asp | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
