I was a fan of in out nicks, till i broke 3 shafts in a week, then needed a new set of arrows so tryed pin nocks and have never looked back. mabey I was just unlucky to have 3 robinhoods in a week but in sticking with pins.

Last summer I used Cartel Triple with Beiter 3.98H nock (I shoot compound). I had 24 arrows when I started and after summer I had 19 arrows. I only lost 5 arrows in five months. Beiter is the best to protect your arrows.

I have been in archery 29 1/2 years and never had Robin Hood.

Wow talk about unlucky. A couple years ago I had a good robin hood with a set of Mckinney Shafts. The 2 arrows are still together to this day. And recently had a Hooder with some x7's. The arrow's didnt stay together but the Unibush was Un-Tapered and is now paralelle with the shaft. It no longer tappers towards the nock.

Which doesn't really matter, as they make the Triple sized insert nocks in the same 'heavy' material as the in/outs. I don't think it's the design which makes in/outs durable, just the material. I credit the 'heavy' nocks with having saved a number of my shafts.
I've got this sort of nock on my recurve Triples but haven't rear ended one of these yet so I can't judge their protective qualities. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

since im shooting a good bit indoor to prepare for indoor tourneys, i can say i have ruined about five X 10s from rear ending the pin into the shaft just in the last 2 months. once the carbon splits, its over. i ruin alot of nocks and pins but the pins only protect so much. now i do shoot much higher poundage than most so my arrows are hitting harder when they hit. i got some out nocks, but they didnt fit. they were too loose on the shaft. otherwise i was going to try them. So i am stuck with the pin nock system. I can garuntee you can split an X 10 even with a pin and nock.

This is true. The conclusion I came to was that they dont make much difference on a compound but the do make a difference on recurves (due to the slower speeds.

x10 overfit nocks will go on. you just need to rap abit of PTFE tape around the end of the shaft and then push the nock over that. you get a very nice snug tight fit then. btw the over fit nocks do not save the x10s at all. the nocks may look big and beefy but they are hollow so one nock and its over with them. they are a briliant nock tho. unlike the inout nocks the overfits do not wobble at all on the shaft. most top archers use them. especialy koreans. plus you can use a beiter point on the string. a definate bonus

Coincidentally, most of those using overfit nocks are NOT paying full market price for their arrows.

Maybe the solution is to make up some of our own protective collars similar to these which are made for Carbon Express arrows and are placed over the end of all of their target shafts and expoxied in place:

ive actualy seen somebody who has done something along those lines on an ace. they used an platinum plus aluminum shaft and cut thin 5mm long sections of the shaft off and pushed them onto the end of the shaft, then fitted the nock on. aparently thid did work. maybe its worth a go for anybody using aces. just have to go to the shop and see wat size shaft is the best fit on the end of the ace.
