| Weight activated releases like the Loesch and Carter Evolution help a lot with these problems. I had all the usual problems, punching, heavy flinching and below gold freezing until I changed to a Loesch release. It not easy to learn but gradually all the bad stuff goes away. I found that after a period of shooting with this release I was able to regain total control and now I find I can shoot any release I like. It's almost magic. PM sent. |

| I found that Larry Wise's book "Core Archery" gave quite a good explanation of what BT is and how it "works" also some of his exercises with a rope to practise the release are good. Not everything he says I'd take as gospel, but it's a good basic intro with a systematic approach to learning BT.

| Wasn't quite what you were saying Sunday... you had me convinced you had come over to the Dark Side Got to admit your little spike release was a bit hairy, which I think also means that like all releases you have to like your BT release and be confident with it. I found the Evo is a good BT trainer in some ways and the Stan in others... but still prefer my Carter thumb trigger release shot BT style for serious scoring. Did you get the string checked out in the end?

| The best thing to do here is go and find yourself a good compound coach who can help with everything that is required to get you out of this. There may be other contributing factors such as bow set up (draw length and weight) which are hindering your back tension problem, and a coach will watch you shoot and indentfy the problems. Then he'll help you fix them. It's still up to you but the right help wouldn't go amiss.

| I am going to have to work hard at this. I have just finished reading Core Archery, thats what got me to notice that I was not using back tension at all. Thanks again for all your input. |
