As you start your pre-draw, try repeating a phrase in your mind (not out loud) over and over untill you loose. The phrase I used when I was bothered by external noise was 'if I wasn't an archer I wouldn't be here'. It's amazing how much this helps. Nowadays I find that I am concentrating so much on the gold that it dosn't bother me.

I don't have a problem with noise distraction outdoors but when shooting indoors, all squashed into a small space I sometimes find it hard to focus. I used to get a song in my head and just concentrate on that. It did'nt adversely affect my shooting but some songs worked better than others . Now when I shoot indoors I am aware of people's conversations but only as background noise, like a blur.

i am very new to archery but i have been do marshal arts all my life would u be intersted in so basic medertaion that after you have praticed you can use to consentrate on what you are doing it will reduce people chating to the back of your brine i use it when doing demos a few hundred people watching make a lot of noise, also if you are like me with dexslia and aspujus syndrome it helps to focus the mined on what i am doing stops my Brain working over time lol , if you would be intersted just say so in a post as i wouldn't want to afend you as some people don't like it, if so i will post what to do and it is very easy not hard at all

The same as with any problem do practice it - get some nice friendly club mates to talk at you whilst you shoot, try making them tell you how your opponent is doing cf you etc, the most distracting things possible.
Then by the time the competition comes around you'll have learnt how's best to deal with it...
I think the worst I had to contend with was an athletics tracks starting pistol, I was getting worried in case it went off at just the wrong moment, so I went back and praticised with some loud bangs so I now know it won't affect my shots for next time.

well all you need to do is sit in a comfortable way, in chair or floor keep your back strait, breath from you dowteaen or sacral sharkra it is 2 finger with below your belly button, make sure your tongue is touching the roof of your mouth, place your hands on each other, breath deeply in hold for a second then breath out all that matters is your breath in and out, do this for longer and longer in time you will only think of you breath, any 1 can tork to you and you wont even notice,

next step is goshen ( sorry japans ) type of mederation used bye some of us reiki master same as be for but put your hands in the pair potion and consentrate on your two middle fingers feel them touching etc,
now you have lurnt to consentrate on breath and your body in a basic Way (i was a marksman in the TA) so i now thats important and you have lurned to consentrate on your fingers next step is to Apple them both but of cores it wont be on your middle fingers, you cloud try what is now as drawing the bow in kung fu.
stand with feet shoulder with and bend them. you draw to left side of boad and right side of body
your left hand moves from your hips to the left as if you are holding the bow and your right hand follows you left hand imagine you are pulling the bow keeping your elbow up draw to your ear then repeat on both sides all ways looking at your bow hands, meditate on your breath as you do it, if you like when you are used to it play some music when you are in mediation like this you wont notice soon with pricked you will associate your bow with the medertaion any problems let me now ever on here or pm me
i hope this helps you

To concentrate at a competition i close my eyes before every shot. breathe deeplyrest your longrod on the floor to reduce the weight and hold position for 5-10 seconds.

Turning my head towards my target with my eyes closed. Open my eyes the first thing i see is the GOLD, sonentrate and stare the gold out...willing the arrow there. Raise my bow, begin the draw position my sight wait for the clicker and BANG

hopefully a gold.

but i dont listen to the clicker. i can feel my clicker through the bow and wait for the clickers vibration, cancel out any noise, just think GOLD

as a noob it sounds like it is 90 % in the minde to hit the target, just like in demos when i brake bricks, you now you can do it over and over but if the minde is not there you wont do it

Just think positive in club training, be prepared to be serious and concentrate throughout club training. Practice what ever concentration technique you want every time you shoot, not on the one off time you go to comps.

Try taking your sight off, or shooting longbow for a few sessions and practice willing the arrow to the gold,

i shot longbow for 3 months after my scores on recurve dropped dramatically
went back to recurve and scored my PB in competition 2 weeks later.
