I know this is a very basic question so hope I'm not being too stupid, have just purchased this rest which came with no instructions, has any one got any setup instructions?

Trying to keep a basic answer (and assuming throughout that you have a recurve bow):

Hopefully you also have a plunger/button. (if not, this is pretty important to ensure your arrows fly true, so you should get one)

The rest attaches by a double-sided sticky pad onto your riser, making sure that the hole in it matches up with the hole in your riser that the button lives in. Ensure that the metal 'arm' is to the bottom, i.e. below the button, and that the magnet is nearest you (i.e. the arm points out and away towards the target as you hold the bow to shoot)

You then need to adjust the arm (in the case of this rest, I think by *gently* bending the metal) to acheive a couple of things:

1) with an arrow resting on the metal arm, the middle of the arrow shaft rests against the middle of the button tip.

2) with an arrow on the rest, and viewing from above, none of the arm protrudes out past the arrow shaft

You might possibly find that a *very* slight upward bend on last few mm of the arm helps an arrow to 'stay on' when you come to shoot.

If everything is set up correctly, as you shoot, the arm gets folded flat against the riser by the passage of the arrow, so it doesnt interfere with the vanes as they go past. Then after the arrow has left, the magnet pulls the arm back into place, ready for the next shot.

If you are at all unsure, any reputable shop or fellow club member should be able to help you get it positioned correctly.

Good luck.

Cartel don't do instructions, so you didn't miss out. Raphe's filled in for them fine though

magnet rest

Ah well just shows that it was a stupid question, thanks for the reply yes I should have said that it is a recurve bow, yes I do have a pressure button. my problem was when I fitted the rest the hole in the rest lined up with the hole in the riser but the arrow was below the tip of the pressure button, also I was unsure what prevented the arrow from falling off the bar, might have to give up the sport if I can't come up with the simple solution of a slight bend in the end of the bar.

Best policy with Cartel parts is to remove and replace with a better product, try a Spigarelli ZT arrow rest.

If you don't know the answer it is'nt a stupid question. If you don't ask you will never learn. If you need help don't be afraid to ask, someone will know the answer to the problem, and would be more than pleased to help..

You can push the wire up slightly to get the arrow in the middle of the button.

I did (to match skinny carbon arrows), and it worked a treat.

I've gone for a very slight curve up at the end (last 2 mm) of the wire. Almost imperceptible, but a remarkably secure seating for the arrow.

Other things.

The hole in the rest backplate is vertically elongated. Stick it on high if the arrow is skinny, low, if it's porky. That would minimise the heaving and bending to match the button.

(No, I didn't think of this until after it was stuck to the riser...)

When heaving and bending, hold the bit nearest the pivot steady with pliers while you jump on the extreme end. If the wire near / in the pivot gets too bent, it binds and sticks.

(Yes, I did do that...) Easy fix, though.

Last of all, once you are done pounding the rest into new and interesting shapes, check that your nocking point is still in the right neighbourhood.

I think this rest for the price of around £3 99 is very ood value. When sticking it on the riser, put it on at a slight angle, no need to bend the arm, the bottom tangent of the arrow should just touch it, ie, not lay flat on the rest or it will keep dropping off as if you were "pinching" the arrow
