Hi there Grim - welcome to the asylum!

Generally speaking we advise people to join a club and do a beginners course before buying anything. This is because archery uses specific muscle groups that often don't get worked by other means, so as you become more proficient the weight you draw will increase as will the length. This usually means that any bow or arrows bought right at the beginning will be out grown pretty quickly.

However, if you already have one, the important thing is to learn to shoot it correctly. You will not be able to shoot at any target archery club until you have completed a beginners course - which most clubs run. This will teach you the basics of form, how to draw a bow correctly without injuring yourself, and the safety rules so that you can shoot without injuring anybody else! Let us know which club you go to for your course, and how you get on. One word of warning - archery is addictive!
