Hello from a complete newbie

I fired my first bow last night, under the careful supervision of it's marker a nice Dutch chap called Mark. After a couple of duff shots that brought the pull on the bow and corrected the grip, I managed to hit a nine. With the last shot I did get a bit of bite from the bow, I look at the mark and grin so all is good.

Well that was it, I want more! (Nines, the string scrape I can do without)

I am now awaiting the beginners course to be scheduled, money is already burning a hole in my pocket.

My decision was helped by no small amount that the chaps and ladies at the Chiltern Archers were very friendly and welcoming.

Thank you and I was actually wearing an arm guard at the time.

I managed to scrape my arm from hald an inch above my elbow down the inside of my forearm until the point the arm gaurd started... the got a nice red line that turned purple.

All in all about four inches long, just a faint mark now. It is fading far too fast!

It is indeed a wacky world here... apparently I haven't posted here yet.

Hiya, and welcome!
Look on your injuries as a badge of honour, I do. I just make sure to explain I'm not a junkie, when I expose my arms...

Welcome, been there done that. I got bitten to start with, and went over to using a long elbow to wrist guard. Worked a treat.
