Hello

I'm new to archery but really enjoying it, I've only got a cheap 22lb bow but would like to get something better.

I've read a lot about each type and don't know which to get recurve or compound , compound sounds easier to shoot but recurve seems more traditional.

Thanks in advance for your input

welcome aboard James.

I'd stick with the recurve for a while before you decide..... the compound brings a whole new dimension to shooting a bow

Thanks Little Miss Purple

Thing is my recurve was only £21 from a local sports shop and doesn't even have a sight, I also find the draw length a bit long, I end up pulling it back to my ear.

You dont have to pull it all the way back. Still it does sound like you are after a new bow. First thing I will say is speak to your local archery shop. They can advise you and help you more than we could. There is nothing like personal interaction. If you dont know where you nearest shop is then tell us where you live and someone will know. Alternatively ask some questions on here and you will get answers. Also if you ask about gear on here make sure you have a budget otherwise we may be (needlessly) suggesting equipment out side you budget. No equipment is bad just some is better than others and more expensive.

Welcome James!
Do you mind if I ask whether you have started archery through a club or on your own?
Some of the best advice you will get around here will be centered on starting your archery with proper tuition - usually a six lesson beginners course - at a local club. Not only will you get a good grounding in shooting a bow, but also in the type of equipment best suited to you.

At the moment its something I'm doing on my own but I'm going to get in contact with my local club and enquire about the beginners course.
