Hi there and a question

Just signed-up and thought I would say a quick "hello" to everyone. Bit about myself, been shooting and coaching for a fair few years now and would like to consider myself OK at both. Why did I sign-up? Well, AIUK seems to be a pretty fun place to be where loads of people who are completely mad about archery seem to hang out and I am an archery nut (Hi, I'm DocS and I am an archery addict )

As I always believe that when you do something, you should always contribute / participate. So, my first contribution to AIUK is to ask the collective why do you shoot? Seeing as I asked the question, I will kick things off and say that the reason I shoot is because it has allowed me to meet loads of people (many of whom are now good friends) and because I still get a monumental buzz out of shooting that perfect shot.

Hi DocS! Welcome to the funny farm!

We're a pretty merry bunch, so you'll have some fun here. Don't forget to tell to tell us where you shoot - you may find other AUIK members are closer than you think!

Why do I shoot? Well, it's certainly not for the thrill of that perfect shot - I've yet to make a perfect shot. But I'm a stubborn ******* so I keep trying!

welcome aboard

Why do I do archery.....now - because I enjoy it, it usually keeps me out of trouble, I keep improving and many of the archers I have met are the friendliest and most genuine people I would like to spend time with.

Welcome to the woodlands!!

from a wood somewhere near Norwich.....

Why do I shoot? I often ask myself that question, especially on a freezing cold morning when the wind is particularly biting (the back of our wood is somewhat prone to that) and things aren't going as I'd want.

Then I lob a 1st arrow kill and the buzz that comes fromt hat is why I shoot - along with loving being out in the woods with me bow.

Hi Docs and welcome to the madhouse

Why do I shoot?

I used to be a very active and competative sports person, then a back injury ended all that. Archery is good for my posture and is allowing me to again be active in a sport and who knows one day maybe even competetive.
But to be honest I do not reallly care about being that competetive after all,

I AM AGAIN ABLE TO DO A SPORT !!!

And one I have come to really love, and enjoy the frustration, and challenge it presents.

And looking for lost arrows adds so much interest to a walk in the woods.

Welcome DocS

Why do I shoot....I get stressed easily and can't "switch off" from all the troubles at work.

Shooting makes me stop thinking about what else is going on - I have to concentrate on the shot, the whole shot and nothing but the shot which I find very relaxing.

Used to sail which was the same - concentrate on what you are doing or you are swimming.

That and all the people I have met are so helpful and friendly.

Rip T
