Hello and good evening.

Hello everybody, I've only just found this forum and a great find it is too.
I've been shooting since my beginners course in May this year and just managed to compete in the Caldy Bowmen indoor tournament on the 25th November before I had my hip operation. No more archery now for a few weeks but I really would like too upgrade to something brand new. (my last upgrade was second hand). Everyone seems to point at the Winstar, should I buy or go for something at bit more expensive.

Cheers m'dears.

Welcome aboard

The winstar is a very good riser, go for something you like the feel of and spend as much as you can afford..... choose wisely and you will not need to renew until you WANT to!!

lo and welcome to the forum !

as far as that riser upgrade question goes there really isnt a straight answer

the riser is something that should last you a fair while so my opinion is that its best to get something at the top of your budget with the aim of keeping it a fair while

as to which one - if you can try out as many clubmates bows as you can - different people like different risers for different reasons and its best to get as many different ones through your hands before you shell out the cash i reckon

i shot a winstar2 myself as my first new bow and for the money its a good bit of kit i think - fairly light and decently made but for me i found it a little 'whippy' feeling after release (which some people might actually prefer) so i switched to a more stable feeling riser that i picked up second-hand

You buy what you can afford !

but the best advice you will get is talk to your club coach and then with that info go to a local shop with a good reputation and speak to them. If your coach can go with you all the better if not write down thier advise.

But you really need to try the risers and see what feels right for you.

Good luck.
