| Longbowmen of Oxford Hi, New to the forum and wanted to ask, is there anyone who shoots longbow in Oxfordshire that wants to catch up for an end or two? I know about the club here and will join when a bit more financial (damn monthly paydays, who thought that was a good idea?), but wondered if there was a slightly less formal group of like-minded souls out there who were into shooting the crooked stick? Cheers, and beers, Anthony ![]() |

| Hi Antony Oxford is as quick and easy to get to from here as any of the local clubs. If you have somewhere to shoot that I can get to from Oxford BR station then I'd be delighted to join you. Cheers ChrisM

| Hey Guys ![]() I'm also into longbow shooting and am planning to move to Witney later in the year and I'm definitely looking to shoot a few ends with some fellow traditional shooters like yourselves. I'll be travelling to Witney again in a month or so and I'm hoping to check out a few clubs when I'm there. Feel free to send me a message and I look forward to possibly being able to attending some weekend shoots if any of you would be interested. Willie |

| have a look and the windrush mob... Hi Willie, Thanx for the reply. Have a look at Windrush Archers, they're based in Witney, on the rugby club grounds I believe. They are more trad based I believe, longbows and warbows, etc. For modern comp archery, there is a group in North Hinksey, here in Oxford, called the Oxford Archers, using recurves and compounds, although not exclusively, as I understand it. When I get a chance, and their respective seasons start, I will pop along to both and see what they're like. As I work 4 days on, 4 days off, and weekends are not always free, I might end up joining both just to get maximum range time. Hopefully I'll see you at one or the other, Ants ![]() |
