Introduction / Hello

Hello Everyone!

My name is Dave and I've been shooting since September last year.
I've done very little target shooting outdoors - mostly frostbites but have managed to get some longer shoots in over the last couple of weekends @ 80, 60 and 50 yards.

I'm currently shooting recurve for target and compound for field archery.

I'm up to about 540 @ 18m indoors having recently upgraded my limbs, arrows and started using a clicker.

My club reckons I should make 1st class this summer but I have a lot of work to do as I could only just score with my 1st 2dozen arrows at 80yds so a long way to go before I post a decent score.

Have a three questions right now that no one at my club can answer:
1. why is it that you don't see people using an English draw on their long bows? (at least everyone I see uses a French draw)
2. why do longbows and recurve traditional with a draw weight in excess of 40lb catch my face when using an English draw?
3. is it true that recurve traditional allows the use of a static arrow rest and can you use a thumb ring?
