Hi all,

I'm new to the forum and Archery. I've been interested in Archery for a long time, I would like to get a kit. I was looking at this one Archery World Bow Kits its the first one on the page. Would this be ok for a beginner .

Many thanks

Steve

welcome aboard

how new is new??? don't be tempted to buy any kit until you have completed your beginner course... then the club you join will be more than helpful in assisting you to make your choices

Hi Steve - welcome to the forum!

A bit of advice - buy nothing at all. Find your nearest club and get yourself on their next beginners course. If you don't know where your nearest club is, tell us where you are and you will be deluged with information from archers in your local area.

The reason you should buy nothing is that archery uses muscles that don't normally get much of a workout. As you go through the course you will build those muscles and the parameters of the bow that suits you will change. That will in turn affect the length and spine of the arrows you need. Kit bought at this stage will be useless to you in three months time.

The other reason you need to do a beginners course is that no club will let you shoot without having done a course. Archery is a very safe sport in practice, but remains that way only because of the rules that govern shooting and you will learn these on the course. You will also learn the basics of good form, without which good shooting is impossible.

I hope you enjoy archery - it's challenging, addictive, and also very social. You will find yourself hooked very quickly!

Hi, i'm fairly new too. just done all my beginners lessons etc. Now on the verge of joining a club and purchasing a basic bow set-up. I can only agree with everyone else, i know it's really tempting to rush out and buy your own equipment etc. But so much changes in just the beginners lessons, by waiting you'll find equipment that will be better sutied to you.
Archery is the most addictive thing ever, so enjoy!
AND is obligatory!
lol

Welcome. You'll get fed up of reading it but hold off buying kit until you've shot for a few months at least. Beginners' kits may look reasonable but you will potentially find that it isn't money well spent. Wait a little longer and shoot with club equipment (if possible) whilst saving up to buy kit that's right for you. Most dealers are excellent and will help you out when you're finally ready. But don'tthink we don't all know what it's like to get bitten by the bug! Good on you.

Hi & welcome!
You are in a good spot - two very good (and friendly) clubs in Cheltenham. Take a look HERE & HERE
Both clubs have members on the forum I believe, so should be able to help with any queries.
ENJOY!

Best bet is to contact them direct, then you can check availability at the same time.
