Newbie

Hi Everybody

I am new to the forums and have been shooting for about 18 months now.

Started at the local school who introduced it during the summer holidays and it was free. What can i say totally addicted but cant shoot as often as i would like, (WIFE and kids to blame).

Have finally bought my own bow - samick Athlete riser, Challenger limbs, cartel championship sight and button. Have to tune the bow yet and the local club are helping me in Birmingham, really nice bunch. Not sure if i have bought a decent kit?

The last three portsmouth's have shot 481,440 and 483 is this good for an intermediate archer.

Didn't realise how much it would cost to buy stuff.

If I ask sstupid questions please forgive me.

Thanks all.

First of all - welcome to the forum ! Lots of newbies turn up here, and they all ask questions! We have lots of answers - who knows, you might even get the right ones!

The only stupid question is the one to which you already know the answer. If you don't know - ask. There's always someone here who can explain things. If you haven't already done so, go here and download 'Archers Reference'. It's a brilliant source of information which will answer a lot of the questions that occur to you at three in the morning! (Murray Elliot, the author, is a member and regular contributor to this forum).

Nothing wrong with your kit. The sight is a bit basic, but if it works for you at the moment then it's fine. It might be the first thing I'd upgrade though. You didn't mention stabilisers?

Finally, your scores. You seem to be knocking on the door of the psychologically important 500 Portsmouth. For the time you've been shooting I'd say that pretty damn good and you must be getting most things right.

Enjoy the forum. And enjoy your archery - much more important than getting to be county champ in my opinion.
