Complete newbie saying hi

<<here is my cake offering.

My name is Janice and I live in Nantwich Cheshire. I have a partner who was in the National Archery Youth squad, his family all did archery when lived in Hampshire and up until about 4 years ago, my boyfriend went to archery about 4 times a week although he hasnt shot for a while. (no pressure on me then lol). One of the first things he ever said to me was 'Do you want to come and see my bow..!' Last year we went to a fun day in Crewe and I was persuaded to 'have a go' with Greenbank Archers. I discovered I really liked it, and have had another couple of goes since at different events locally, also with Greenbank Archers.

Ive now decided that I would like to take this further which my partner is , so I dropped an email to the secretary of Greenbank Archers a couple of days ago to find out when the next beginner course is. (Ive not heard anything yet ) I cant wait to find out more, Im just like a little kid and so excited. I hope I dont have to wait too long to find out when the next beginner course is as I want to start erm ...yesterday! I am the sort of person that really 'gets into' something, and at least I wont have any moaning from my partner if I want to talk archery. Hes also used to the competition circuit, so it probably wont be long before hes back into things as well.

I also have two boys (14 and 8), a dog, a leopard gecko and three goldfish. (the goldfish are the most trouble, honest)

Thats sounds just like me a couple of months ago, the sport just grabed me when I did a have a go session at a company away day and I found myself looking for a local club and getting quite worred waiting for an email, luckily one club were able to accomodate me a couple of months later and I am now 3 weeks into my beginners course but the wait was painful . After I did the have a go I just wanted to get a bow in my hand again!

Luckily the club have been really accomodating and I will most definately be joining once I have finished the beginners course, I've already started acumulating bits and bobs and should have another little parcel waiting for me at home with a quiver and a bow stringer

You have a big advantage though, a knowledgeable partner and that should stand you in really good sted in the future. Good luck with getting a response from your local club, most seem very busy at this time of year and you might want to give them a call to follow up your email

Enjoy your archery &

Unfortunately the club website only has an email address, has anyone got any other contact numbers for Greenbank Co of Archers?

Speckle the Gecko is now three years old, shes a hypotangerine, so shes bright orange and yellow! Shes great apart from I think I have an escaped cricket somewhere, sounds like the tropics here with it chirping! Beardies are lovely though, I just havent got the room for a big enough viv for one.

Yes I am lucky in that my OH is knowledgable, it does backfire though because he talks in jargon and Im having to learn very quickly what on earth he is talking about. I just nod and smile sweetly most of the time

Welcome.

We've got a beginners course starting on the 3rd June - but Alderley (SK10 4TG if you want to look up exactly where we are) might be a bit far to come from Nantwich. PM me if you want any details though.

and

L

EDIT: it obviously took me too long to type that......
