Smile New user - first post

Hi All,
Hope I've pushed the right button here, but here goes. I joined AI a couple of weeks ago and just thought I'd post a message to test the water.

I currently shoot a recurve bow but am thinking about changing my setup. I was visiting my local archery store a couple of weeks ago to get some replacement arrows for the offspring and me (they bend 'em, I snapped an ACC), and there was a new archer in there planning to buy his first bow. He was looking at compounds and the staff member was running through the pros and cons. Well, I don't know about the new archer, but he certainly sold it to me, so I will be trying a compound at my club in the next couple of weeks.

As a matter of interest, does anyone use an MP3 player on the shooting line? I occasionally use one to block out background noise and usually listen to chill-out music, though at the moment I have some Gregorian chant on there, which is very relaxing. The tricky bit is ensuring that the earphone wires don't get caught in he bowstring. Any thoughts?

Yes thats it... didnt steve hallard marry Sue Woof??

How about Ray Critch and a Leroy someone all good national squad

Always though Dale looked so cool... watched him a few times at the Leicester and Colchester double star ... Amber Gamblers... I would try it but only with two arrows and when I was fresh, lol

Been reading loads on here, plenty of returning and new archers, all these Bm's and a few GMB on here impressive... have the score gone up at all ??

as you know i was an MB , it was 1000 york but cant remember what a FITA was 1140ish i think

maths lesson in session

Flipping heck!!!!!!

I wouldnt have got it ... but I did get mine in the dark ages when we had metal arrows and solid bows...UUUGGGGG!!!

Has the advent of these new bows and arrows made a big difference on scores??

I guess it must have but blimey thats some shooting to get those scores.. but doable :0)...

14 short on my best FITA and 27 short on my best york so definatly doable with all the modern stuff lol

I used to work on 80's at 100 - 90's at 80 and 100's at 60 would give you 1040

1065 is an average of 7.4 per arrow where as 1000 was 6.9 per arrow so what is that 9,7,7,7,7,7 with an occational 9,9,7,7,7,7

so its now 82's at 100 - 93's at 80 and 102's at 60 that will give you 1068

thinking too much about it now lol...

with these new better cast bows and lighter arrows i guess you can make up a good few pouint at the 100yds and 90m

I didnt say Dale was good looking just he looked cool :0) now i am good looking lol

his shooting style, and what he wore... very Rick McKinney and Jay Barrs

still working on getting the kids into the sport, waiting on equipment for them and got a target set up at 10yds and 20yds for when it gets here

so once I have that I am hoping to start going to a few shoots, got my mother in law in somerset, so the Wells Fita and my brother in norfolk so anything east anglia fita wise can do the colchester star travel not a problem

all planned out just need to slip the shackles of the wife and I'm off lol

ho plus some serious fitness and target training... and the small point of the cost...and finding the cash.....!!!!

will the 8125 string I bought help the cast of my bow by the way??
