Hi from another newbie...
Hi folks,

I have been trying to find the time to take my first steps into archery for a while now, and have just succeded. I feel that now I may have little time for anything else Looking forward to investing in my first setup!

Its good to see such an active community online, so many forums are dead ground, although I doubt i'll have much to say for a while, so will just be sitting back and soaking up all this new stuff!

I have already heard some 'horror' stories about folks spending wads on fancy kit only to be out shot by juniors shooting basic club bows!

Sound advice will be sought before I part with any of my hard earned....

First piece of wisdom (which is pretty obvious really, but some still learn it the hard way!): You can buy kit, but you can't buy ability or talent to go with it.

Hi Lurch,

Another good tip is to try as many bows as you can. Beg, steal and borrow from other club members/ archery shops etc.

Whatever you do, don't make any large purchases until you've sought advice and feel comfortable with your form.

(however, quiver, fingertab and arm-guard are good things to buy).
