TJ Mason - 31/7/2005 7:32 PM The situation with bowhunting is that in 1963 Parliament passed the Countryside and Wildlife Act. Among many other things, this defined the types of hunting that were permitted and the weapons allowed. Archery equipment was not on the list of permitted weapons, so it's banned by implication.

A friend on another forum supplied this...

Here is the status of bowhunting legislation in Europe:

Red: Not yet legalized.
Yellow: Still in experimental progress
White: currently unknown
Green: bowhunting legal

RE: hey!!!

sorry!! Didn,t mean to cause such a stir on your web site.I,m a member on a few other sites in america and on one of them Clickerati mentioned this site.I thought it would be interesting to see view points from the other side of the globe and to possibly meet some new people.I understood that bowhunting is not legal in your country but here you have this site for bowhunters to join and talk,I,m sorry but now I,m a bit confused.Perhaps this site is only a place where someone like myself should VISIT and not feel free to actually join.I apologize if I,ve overstepped my international boundries and caused any wide spread panic by infiltrating this site.In the future I will take care when on your site(if I,m allowed)and just look at the threads and not reply.Perhaps my presance wont be nearly as intrussive that way.Bowhunting is NOT outlawed in america and if any of you find yourselves in Colorado during the archery season I promise to include you if you would like to try elk huntig or bear hunting.Rather than to be so bold as to just waltz on to your site in the future, if anyone would like to discuss bowhunting with myself, you might want to just email me directly at thomascrg@yahoo.com so you arn,t seen patronizing with this outsider.I wouldn,t want to feel responcable for anyone being shuned by thier peers on my account. To the lady who mentioned finding beaus on this site....you are ESPECIALLY welcome to chat with me Thankyou for making me aware of my stupidity in thinking I could fit in here. Some times a man needs a person to set him straight on things when he is out of line.I almost feel as though I was just given a spanking and told to go home(yank) very interesting responce! Not at all what I expected, but interesting non the less.Hope that you all have a wonderfull and very safe day.My prayers and the prayers of my two sons go out to you and the victims of the recent terror attacks on your beautifull city.God bless you.

As Armchair Archer clearly points out, this is a website for all and the discussion regarding bowhunting was merely out of curiosity. Everyone is welcome here to discuss anything they wish.

I feel personally responsible for making you feel unwelcome, but that was not my intention AT ALL. You may not realize that I'm an American living in the UK and there are other Americans on the site, as well.

PLEASE do not feel you have to take care or not be yourself here. We're all very open minded people -- I think you'll find we're more open minded than some of the US forums.

So please accept my apology for making you feel unwelcome. We all hope that you'll participate freely on AIUK.

*Dave - please give me 10 de-merits and take away my cake for a whole week.
