Hi
I'm Dave from the Midlands, currently shooting with Ivanhoe Archers - Ashby. I have been shooting since 1967, on and off. In that time I've progressed around the country sharing my time around various clubs. The most noteworthy were Evershed Archers (now closed), Greenwood Bowmen (Osterley), Killingworth Archers, Meriden, and now Ivanhoe. I've had a few years off in between clubs, but not too many.

The main problem is that I peaked in 1971, it's been downhill ever since.

I currently shoot various disciplines with Recurve as my main one. Newly acquired wheely bow is fun and helping with back loading, plus fun shooting classic and longbows.

Recurve - Merlin Elite - Hoyt G3's at 43# on the fingers Easton ACE 520 at 29.5" Beiter LR & Twins on V
Compound - Browning Rage 50# ACC's Petron Scope
Classic - Bear HC300 from circa 1969 Special edition with built in sight and magnetic rest
Longbow - Tri laminate 40# bow with home made arrows

Well thats me

RE: ---

Edads! Another really long term archer. Me, I took it up in '72, when bows were bows, and only professionals used stabilisers. My first trophy was a glass ashtray for coming last in the inter-universities clout at Newcastle in 1974. Downhill ever since. I did gain the county trophy for "Best score by a third class archer", and then re-gained it three years later. Still can't afford new equipment, as even the stick insects come above me in the domestic pecking order. But I love my archery, and hope I give to the sport more than I take from it.
