| Hi from Derbyshire Hi, I am a total newbie to archery. I have been thinking of taking the plunge for some time. I want to go on a beginner’s course before I invest in a bow and kit and find out more about the different types of archery. I have been reading the info on this site over the last 10 days and have found it very interesting (had to look up loads of words I have never seen before) and informative. Thought it was time I said hello  I have emailed my nearest club “Derwent Bowmen” to ask if they are running a beginners course in the near future but still haven’t had a reply. I was just wondering if most clubs only operate in the summer months.      |

| Hello and welcome to AIUK. All clubs shoot all year around. We are now in the indoor season (reluctantly). I hope you get a reply from your local club soon (before the flame dies). Enjoy your browsing and if in any doubt, just ask.

| Great to have you along.  Not all clubs run beginners courses in the winter. Space and access to facilities can be a problem. But keep trying them, they should let you know your options.

| Hello from the other side of Derbyshire. Burton Bridge Archers, although in Staff's we are in EMAS. Welcome. You might find that Derwent can be slow in getting back to you. But, if you are desperate... I have been asked to run a course at Rosliston Forestry Centre subject to numbers of course. I suspect it will be mostly kids, due to a certain Robin Hood on the TV. The course, if it does go ahead, we will start Saturday morning, 11th November 10:30 - 12:30 to 16th December. This will be the third course I will have run there this year. The shooting area is a 40 mtr "Crop circle", dedicated for projectiles, surounded by woods. I supply all the gear needed, such as bracer (Arm guard), finger tab, bows, arrows etc. I'm not too sure of the price, but would guess it will be around the £60.00 mark, which works out @ £5.00 per hr. Distance, time, cost, it's your choice. If you do decide to go for it, get in touch with Debbie at the centre. Clothing should be in layers sooner than bulk. take warm drink & some food. What ever your choice, I wish you well for the future.
