newcomer

Hi all

I am a new comer both to this website and the sport as a whole.

I have been on a couple of corporate type Archery Days, and I have been well and truly bitten by it all. Now I am going to spend some money and take the plunge and get myself some equipment.

Any tips or advice on what I should be looking for in a first bow?

Thanks, and looking forward to hearng from you all.

Cheers
Bill

Great to have you along

I would suggest that before you buy any kit you get in touch with your local club.
They should be able to give lots of advice and assistance.

Welcome aboard, Bill!

BTW, what is that symbol in your avatar? I know I know what it is, but I'm drawing a blank!

Yes, that's it! I saw someone with a 28 Days Later t-shirt.

Thanks for that, Bill. Now I can rest my lil pea brain!

Hi and welcome - both to this forum and to archery!

Please - don't spend any money now, it will just be wasted. Find your local club and do a beginners course. You will find that as you progress through the course and beyond, your muscles will strengthen and you will be able to draw more weight, and your draw length will increase. Both of these need to settle before you can buy a bow that is the right draw weight and size for you and get arrows that are spined to match the bow. If you buy the kit now, you will be needing to change it in three month's time!

If you need help finding a club near you - ask! We have members everywhere who will be happy to help.
