Wait until you have completed your beginners course. After that you should have a basic idea of the sport and a good basis to start shooting. Then you will most likely have some more focused questions which will help. If you ask for advise now you mite as well read every post ever made.

However please feel free to ask any questions you may have. The reason we are all on hear is because we like to share our knowledge and experiences. Some have more than others, but if you cant find an answer or now one can answer the question for you then the question isnt worth asking.

Oh and welcome to AIUK and yes indeed have some and

Oh ok. personally I dont read any of the books so I cant really rate any so i wont recommend any. I will leave that up for others. There are quite a few and they do range from beginners to top level Olympix standard archers.

A nice place to start (and free since it is around on the web) is "Archer's reference guide (recurve)", written by "Murray" from this site. Couldn't remember the location, but got it from Google.

http://www.archersreference.co.uk/download.html

I read "Archery - Steps to Success" early on. I think it was pretty good about the basics, but not getting too technical. After that there are a lot of intersting boks aimed at various levels...

Archery The Art of Repetion is the most recent. Despite having everything from beginning up, I think it is realistically aimed at intermediate level archers. Others may well disagree, and say you should really learn everthing correclty right from the start, rather than in incremental stages.

Ijn the end go to the course, and get as much as you can out of it...enjoy it...and prepare for it to take over your life.

Welcome to the mad-house...

Welcome and here is the first rule - do NOT buy anything yet. It's always tempting but a lot better to wait until after the course when the instructor(s) can advise you.
