Ex-pat

Hi folks

I am an Englishman abroad. Originally from the North East. I took up archery while I was living in Matlock, Derbyshire where I was taught to shoot by Peter Greaves and co. at Derwent Bowman

I shoot southpaw and shoot a recurve.

Marksman KG1 (superb bow) 69" 38@28
A/C/E arrows (29") and a long prong.

After moving back to my native North-East and joining Norton Bowmen with my old mate John Wray I left there to move to the US having attained the dizzy class of 'Bowman'

This bow now resides with me in the US (Texas) where I am struggling to find a target archery range. Seems they like to shoot at animals here.

Since coming to the US I have been shooting some guns (my brother-in-law could equip an army!)....but still prefer shooting in the bow.

...and I miss the ...

Later

Keep it in the custard

Kevin

Welcome Kevin. This is a nice place to visit for a chat, but you might find some actual target archers in your area through:

http://texasarchery.org/

This one of the better web sites on the net, and based in your area. Ron Carmichael (aka Texarc) on the Sagi' forum keeps that site and it is chockers with great content.

Enjoy the forum.

Brian

Perhaps if the local wildlife was taught to shoot back they'd suddenly find target archery more attractive?

Well, Kevin, seems like you and I have the same problem. I moved to Maine from Surry a few months ago and I'm having the same problems finding a club and/or range that caters to the refined sport of recurve.

I, too, am shooting target rifle because the facilities are easier to come by. I miss shooting a bow, though, especially with my gorgeous ArrowheadUK gear. Thank goodness Old Bloke makes rifle bags, so I can look as coordinated at the rifle range

Thanks y'all

I shall certainly look for a link on the TX archery site.

I got lucky when I lived in Phoenix I found an indoor range attached to an archery store. That was fun kicking the collective 'wheely' butts with my KG1. They even wanted to use my score for their league!
