Is my shooting hurting me?

As you may or may not have read I have a shoulder injury at the moment and I have an appointment with my GP to hopefully get it sorted or get sent to some one who can sort it.

The big question is "Is my shooting causeing it?"

Take a look at my latest shooting vid and see foryour self.

Helpful comments please.

That whole lifting the bow without any tension on the string and then drawing is rather wearing on the joint. Easier to set the whole lot with a little bit of tension on the string. And you have a lot of movement in the set up and draw that is unnecessary.

Your bow shoulder should not be sore if your technique is good because it should all be bone on bone alignment and no movement under true load.

Also you appear to have a tendency to push towards the target in order to make the shot go off. You're supposed to pull through the clicker, not push out with your bow arm.

Any or all of these may contribute to soreness in the bow shoulder.

Thanks for your observations.
I put a small amount of tension during the pre draw which the vid does not show. However I am trying to put a small amount of tension in. Its a concious effort to not put too much tension in. Your saying maybe I need more on the pre draw?

Yes I push towards the target but I do draw through the clicker. I try to keep it an equal balance of push and pull. Are you suggesting less effort on the push?

Don't 'push' at all. Your bow arm/shoulder is just a solid platform to move around. Pushing just introduces unnecessary tension and can actually make it even harder to pull through because there's too much tension in all the wrong places.

I shall put this on my list of things to look at/alter. Thank you.

Having just spent 3 very poor practice sessions after getting my clicker I'd agree with that 100% Went back to my old method of keeping the bow arm solid and straight last night and it all came right again for me and pulling through the clicker was fine. In fact when I'd been a*sing about trying to push-pull through it I'd had huge trouble actually getting through the clicker and my shoulders have been bad for a few days - feels like a pinched nerve just behind the trapezius on either side of the spine. I've had it before and it wasnt archery related then, but I'm blaming my subconscious technique change this time

Some push, some pull, some have a nicely balanced push pull - to say one way is wrong is incorrect, but the push shouldn't come from the small muscles around the shoulder joint.

Thats probably where my problem is. I do push through the shoulder. I think I read some one say push from the pit. IS that a better method or just an alternative.
