And the cost of hiring is.....?
This will be a major problem. Bigger venues mean more cost but also having more delegates means more rooms for seminars, more lecturers, etc etc. My understanding is that GNAS get very much reduced or even free rates for the use if Lilleshall and this is one of the ways the cost is kept down.

If the cost increased significantly and this increase had to be passed to the delegates - how many would still want to come?

WARNING - MAJOR GENERALIZATION APROACHING!!!!

Many archers and coaches are unwilling to pay even small amounts for this type of event. Once the cost starts to increase we may end up with less people attending - not more.

For what I got out of last weekend I thought it was damn cheap but did hear a couple of people complaining that the price was too high. Hopefully they wont want to come back next year and there will be a couple of spare places!!

Cheers

Andy

One could say that this is coaching (for the rank and file) run on a shoestring. Some would say that the bulk of the funds are directed at the performance coach/squads leaving the rank and file to fumble along in the dark with no clear guidance from 'above.

But until a new, bigger venue is tried noone will ever know if more coaches (and archers) will attend.

Colin,

If you look at the SAA Coaches Conference blurb, you will see that there will be some feedback on the National Coaching Conference. So, you lucky fellow, you'll get to see some of this information.... And if you cross my palm with silver, I may even burn you a CD.....

I thoroughly enjoyed the weekend, ate too much, had a few drinks too, but most of all, the sessions were very informative and seeing folks I hadn't seen for years made the weekend enjoyable. If they get Mr Kim for next year I might go again!

That did occur to me. Great idea not only for availability and facilities but also for strengthening links with uni and other educational archery clubs etc.

Perhaps a different one each year so the conference was spread around the country a bit?

Now that is a really sensible suggestion.

Iain:

I'll bring the CD.

How about the NECC - huge conference rooms and the whole of the West midlands for accommodation. Or the National Sports Centre outside High Wycombe (used for football?) lots of accommodation around there too.
I think you are referring to Bisham Abbey which is is near Marlow, just outside High Wycombe. My recollection of going there a few times for other events (I played Hockey for while and played a few matches there) is that it is no bigger than Lilleshall, and probably does not have a larger conference venue.

The suggestion of using University facilities sounds a good one to me if a larger venue with reaosnably priced accomodation is required.

National Coaching Conference

Brilliant Conference and central venue, but come on Lilleshall management, the sound system in Queens should have been checked by your staff before start of Conference. This is not the first year this has happened-get your act together if you want to continue earning income as a Conference centre. The heating system in Ford Seminar 1 also not working, even the Tutor was complaining of the cold room-this should have been checked by your staff. Trust Alastair will mention this in his feedback form.
