I shoot with the 'fleshy' part of my thumb against the handle with all my fingers relaxed - not holding the bow at all.

I certainly couldn't shoot without a finger sling now!!

I think the 3 inch (Total?) length is not long enough. I have given my old sling away, but I might be able to find My Good Ladie's somewhere, then I'll get the camera out.

I think sling length is a personal preference thing. Personally I have a fairly short sling as this gives me the confidence to not grab as I know that the bow isn't going too far, but I know others that prefer a looser sling; experiment.

hold my recurve in pretty much the same way as most of you, grip in the fleshy part of thumb and fingers tucked under at about 45 degress. I'm currently using a finger sling which I think is too short, the bow doesn't move very much after the shot.

I've also padded my grip out with bicycle handle bar tape as it was a bit too skinny for my hands, this probably accounts for the sling being a bit shorter.

I was using a finger sling quite happily until I got fed up with being constantly told I was gripping the bow (I wasn't, the sling just gave that impression!) So just for the peace to concentrate on what I was doing I switched to a buckle sling. I do nothing different in terms of holding but nobody says a word!
