| i get a scholarship from my university (£1000 a year for 3 years) and whilst is been a pain coming through, its going to help me because i can now start considering about changing my riser to an ILF (currently shooting an Axis) I also get free gym membership and help for training regimes etc (which is why i've managed to work back upto my old draw weight only shooting 3 times a week) edit: It also helps with equipment etc as i need to get a new set of allies at sompeoint soon because i'm trashing my current ones

| It usually depends who does the sponsorship and why. You may be able to get more from your boss with less ties than a dealer or manufacturer would give. Our companies deal with one archer has included in the past year: 4 Bows inc 2 Ultra Elites 18 sets of arrows inc 2 sets of X10's and 2 sets Nano's 5 Release aids 3 Sights 4 scopes 4 sets of stabs 1 Sure-Loc X-press Bow press bits and pieces like quivers blah blah £500 towards petrol £500 towards accomodation £4000 coaching However this is a long term (3yr) deal and so the equipment sponsorship will be less next year as we expect only to pay for 1 new bow, maybe 2 max. I wouldn't suggest you try and get all of the above out of your boss, but you could try ![]()

| Point 1 is don't just go in and ask for some dosh... be organised and let him know what you need. Why don't you go with a list of your expected expenses for the coming year (arrows, spare bow (?), costs for competitions - entry, travel, accomodation, coaching/practice fees, gym fees) and then turn it around and ask in what way he thinks he can help you? Also look towards other benefits other than cash as a negotiating point, e.g. extra time off work to practice (or flexible working hours), training facilities within the company/factory/whatever. Also be aware is expected in return and that you can deliver. Just some thoughts.

| sports union funding, the TASS awards, or help with facilities within universities should not be viewed as sponsorship as these are bursaries set in place by higher education bodies, local authorities or the NGB to further sport within their establishments. This is in the same way that members of a national team are not sponsored on any of the development or maintenance programs
