With the string aligned down the centre of the limbs, the sight aperture is almost bang on the line of the string.

You have not mentioned how much off-set you gave the ACE's. Hopefully you have taken account of the slight barrelling effect where the arrow shows greater off-set at bracing height than when at full draw. This can have a dramatic effect on the position of the group. AS others have said, try adjusting the button position to get the best group in the right place

Have you checked your arrow clearance I have seen the result you describe caused by this especially if big adjustments with the button are needed to correct it ? Also this is only a starting point for when you get outdoors. Last march indoors I got what many would consider a text book bareshaft result, but outdoors the groups and arrow flight were terrible. It took an afternoon shooting at all distances from 30-90 to get the arrows working with me not against me.

Well, after two sessions trying to sort out the tuning problems I decided to adjust the sight way to the left so that I could finally land the arrows back in the custard. Trying various methods I can confirm that the spine appears about right, if a little whippy (though I have only been able to bare shaft at 20yds). On Saturday just gone I attended a Shropshire Archery coaching session at Lilleshall where my setup and technique was scrutinised, resulting in my sight being retiurned to the "text book" position just outside the string line. The only way I was finally able to get the arrows back into the Gold was by moving my string alignment from the sight ring to the riser. This moved the arrows the 5-6" to the right and into the Gold. Whilst this has resolved the problem I am still perplexed, and not particularly satisfied with the fact that I now have to align my string differently.
