| The Order of tuning - from bare components to full set-up I'm getting back into the sport after a couple of years off and will need to go through the whole tuning and set-up again. One thing that i never quite got was , starting from and unstrung bow, completely new set-up what is the "correct tuning" process. You have tiller, limb alignment, rests, sights, brace height etc, all of which affect one another, so is there an accepted order in which you do this? I've seen tuning guides before, including the one i used to use by Jim Park (?) but this starts from slightly further down the set-up line. So from bare components, how would u go about it? |

| Virually every book I know will give you some idea of how to set up a bow... Heretic Archer - Vittorio and Michele Frangili Archery : The art of repetition - Simon Needham Bow Tuning - Roy Matthews And who could forget Murray's own "Archer's Reference" Archer's reference Easton Bow Tuning Guide

| i think this is one of those questions where there are as many answers as there are archers probably the three best starting points (failing speaking to a respected coach or experienced archer you trust) are - the easton tuning guide - Easton Archery: HOME the archers reference - d o w n l o a d james parks tuning method - Tuning a recurve bow - Archery Forum (personally i like the last one - with bits of the other two thrown in) but its horses for courses) plus of course the books that meddler mentioned - i have heretic archer and the needham book and both are pretty thorough about tuning slainte rob

| SOME of the Easton tuning guide is a little over complicated but that is confined to the fine tuning sections latter in the guide the basic set up and bare shaft tune up to page six is OK

| No one has mentioned "Modern recurve tuning - Start to finish" by R A Cockrell. I was given a copy and must admit that although i'm familiar with recurve tuning, coming back after a 10year layoff has proved extremely useful.
