| String problem has it happened to you HI, just wondering if anyone has encountered this problem before. I got a string re-served and then couldnt hit a barn door using it. left, right,up, down everywhere but in the gold, took me a week of frustration to discover it though. Also when i wanted to set the brace height to its usual place i had to untwist the string rather than normally twisting it. what happened? any thoughts on the matter. |
| It might be that it was re-served with a different number of twists to when it was originally served. People have very different ideas about how twisted the string should be when serving -- my preference is for slightly fewer twists than when shooting, but some use loads of twists or hardly any. Or maybe someone tried doing the centre serving on a string jig rather than on the bow. The string would be less tense, resulting in the string material being kinda stuffed into the centre serving rather than wrapped properly. Either way, the best option is learning to do the serving yourself.

| Was the string re-served on the bow? Did the person who served it serve it in the same direction - clockwise/counter clockwise? did you have to re-do your knocking point and was this exactly the same? All questions you should be asking ![]() |

| re.string ive never made a string before so i in all honestly didnt know to ask these questions. What i would like to know is what effect it would have on accuracy etc if the string wasnt served on the bow or wasnt served in the right direction etc. Not being clever just honestly would like to know.....and also if it has happened to anyone here and what effect it had on their shooting........like i said i couldnt hit a barn doorwhen using it. |

| The direction of the serving should follow the direction of twists in the string, otherwise the serving will work loose. It won't in itself have the dramatic effects that you observed, though. Was the string OK before it was re-served? Was it re-served just in the centre or on the end loops too?

| I never pretwist a string when serving it. I have never had any problems reserving either. Sometimes if its not tight a string can twist up when putting the serving on. Its always best to apply the centre serving in my opinion with the bow string; the end serving with the jig on max tightness. This is what I fould helped me to make good strings. But whenever fiddleing with the string always check brace height etc and do a quick retune. |

| It could be that a re-served string hs been served anti-clockwise, when the string is clockwise....or the other way round. If in any doubt, you should buy a new string! Also, if your string needs re-serving, there may be a problem with clearance or incorrect tab use Hope this helps. |
