Geoff, the "triangle" isn't possible in most, so we must focus on the key elements and work with what remains.

The next stage still has me confused. If an archer has a short forearm relative to the upper arm, the draw hand will land further back along the jaw, if all other aspects remain equal. Contacting the string on the side of the jaw is not good, I'm told. So, does the head turn less so the front of the jaw moves back towards the string?
Possibly. Or a deep reference which is not too tight might also suffice (ref:Magnus Peterson who has a deep draw AND high elbow - but he's fairly unique ) This is a game of compromises. For me, efficiency and correct muscle usage outweighs classical look every time

Thanks Murray.
I agree that the classic look is only a reference to be aimed for. Without knowing what makes that so "Good", it is difficult to know which aspects take priority. Efficiency and correct muscles sounds good to me. Allows the archer to relax more and that has to be a plus.

Murray, what's the ideal compromise between facing the target with the head, and not twisting the neck too much?

am i right in thinking that less twisting of the head towards the target (and a slight "side anchor") can give slightly longer draw length and/or better alignment?

my particular dilemma is that my shoulders and muscle use are, to the best of my knowledge, good, but i might get better line & power if i dont twist the neck to face the target so much.. important or not?
