| Compound TP and release aids Following on from the compound TP without changing releases, I thought I'd add my 2p from having sorted this with changing releases, and sorted very quickly indeed. I feel I've just entered the final stage of putting this behind me now.
By the end of last August I was struggling really badly, I couldn't even put my sight on the gold without punching the trigger on my target 3+, but hadn't put a name on why this was. While at the Norfolk FITA* I borrowe, and then bought, a loesch BT release which made an immediate improvement. I suddenly started being able to aim on the gold and hold it there. My husband then bought an evolution, and as soon as I tried that I "borrowed" it. It was s much smoother than the loesch and I've been shooting with that since October with my shooting steadily improving. However I've always had in the back of my mind that I ought to be able to use a trigger release, and when I thought that I slight feeling of panic started to rise in me.
On Friday I tried the new carter sensation release (modelled on the evolution with a backwards trigger action). I immediately felt happy using it. I shot it exactly the same way that I've been shooting the evolution, with no panic, being able to aim on the gold and shooting god shots. I didn't believe this would happen. To make things even better, I shot it all day yesterday at the Taverham easter shoot, and was getting fantastic groups at all distances on the field course. On the target round I shot one end with my evolution as I thought I was getting punchy, and the group I got with that was no where near as good as with the sensation.
So after all that my solution to TP - back tension release (to get used to aiming without being able to release on instinct), and then the sensation (to be able to perform the same shot and use the same back tension learnt with the BT release with a trigger. |
