Question Front of Centre Question

I was just wondering what peoples views were on FOC (Front of Centre) for Target Archery. Some say 2/3 of total arrow, others 10%-12%, others 12%-15%, and some >15%.

I know there is no exact figure for this, but Easton give no suggestion as to what they recommend. I do know this figure varies from style of archery i.e. Target, Field, Clout, etc.

I am using 32" X10s (410 spine) with 110 grain tungsten points & spinwings. Does anyone know where approx my FOC should be?

Cheers NA

You can work it out what it is currently from here if that's of use?: Balance Clip F0C Calculator

No doubt others will be along shortly, there are other calculators about.

Again that only tells you how to calculate it, not what figure it should be at.

FOC Balance Point
This is a hunting site but does explain why different archers might need different FOC's for their arrows.
Up to 18% is acceptable, trial and improve seems to be the way to find out which is best of you. I guess that means being able to shoot to such a standard that the changes in FOC show through ; not the variations from archer's technique.

in an attempt to redeem myself...
Both flex-fletch and 'Precision Archery' quote 10-15% (in the case of PA stating that this "fairly high" figure is needed for FITA style shooters trying to group at 90m).

I think im right in saying that the higher the foc the better. I think a certain Italian archer has an foc of about 20%. This is acheved with heavy Points and light ACE shafts. I dont think you can get a sweet spot for FOC just make it as high as poss. My method is just to go for tungsten points in X10's. The shorter heavier piles must increase the FOC compared to ss points. It works for me!

These comments should only be taken twice a day with a large pinch of salt and have all the scientific backing of a drunk Hobo's ramblings!
